Province of Zeeland opened the subsidy scheme for greening and climate adaptation of business premises from June 2, 2025 to October 1, 2025. The aim of this scheme is to enable Zeeland entrepreneurs to green and make sustainable buildings and premises and thus be prepared for the future.
Eight companies
The subsidy could be applied for business premises on industrial estates, office locations, and care institutions. This year, subsidies were granted to: TMC Wonen (Goes), Schrijver Investment (Terneuzen), Emergis (Kloetinge), Nedbase (Middelburg), Loonbedrijf Van der Maas (Bruinisse), Spelt Bakery (Bruinisse), Taxi De Vlieger Zeeuws Vlaanderen (Terneuzen), and Verhelst Transport (Sluiskil).
In 2026, the companies will start working on measures such as the construction of wadi’s, permeable parking lots, green roofs, and tree planting. These measures also contribute to improving biodiversity in Zeeland.
Deputy Arno Vael:
“I am very pleased that this year we can grant subsidies to no less than eight Zeeland companies. With this, we invest in the climate and in a pleasant and healthy working environment. And we prepare ourselves for Zeeland 2050.”
More greenery on Zeeland industrial estates
Zeeland has about 200 industrial estates. Many of these locations are gray and paved. With increasing climate problems, this regularly causes heat stress, drought, or water nuisance and thus damage to buildings and roads. A green business plot offers many benefits for people and nature. Therefore, the Province of Zeeland has been providing money and advice for several years to help companies green their business plots or office locations.
Zeeland adapts
The climate is changing. As a result, we increasingly face extreme weather in our environment. There are longer periods of drought and heat, but also heavy rain showers and storms. The climate resilient design of office locations and business premises is important to respond to these weather extremes and thus prevent damage. Moreover, a green site provides a pleasant working environment.
