The Province of South Holland is once again awarding a prize for the best affordable housing project for social rent, middle rent, or affordable purchase homes. The Affordable Housing Award highlights projects that contribute to an affordable housing stock. It is now possible to register projects (opens in a new window).

Deputy Anne Koning: “In the most densely populated province in the Netherlands, affordable housing is still desperately needed. With the Affordable Housing Award, we show how we can indeed realize affordable housing and share experiences.”

Municipalities, corporations, residents, and builders can register projects that deserve extra attention. Registration is open until June 22, 2025. Projects eligible for the award must have been completed after January 1, 2023, and consist of at least two-thirds affordable housing. Projects must consist of at least 25 homes.

New Construction, Transformation, or Flexible Housing

These can be projects for new construction, transformation, and/or flexible housing. A jury of independent experts will evaluate the submissions based on elements such as affordability and the living pleasure of residents. They will also consider the amount of social rent, sustainability, livability, design, and the efforts made by the team.

Deputy Anne Koning will present the award during the South Holland Housing Conference on September 29, 2025. Last year, Pegasus in The Hague won the award.
