The province of South Holland is richer by a new technology initiative: QUST - Quantum & Semicon by the Coast. This network brings together companies and knowledge institutions from the quantum and semiconductor sector (semicon), aiming to stimulate collaboration, bundle knowledge, and accelerate innovations.
What is quantum and semicon?
Quantum technology is based on physical principles that allow us to build extremely powerful computers and very sensitive measuring equipment. This technology can mean a revolution for the development of medicines, chemistry, and safety.
The semiconductor sector revolves around the design and production of chips – the brains of almost all modern devices, from smartphones to cars and medical technology. The Netherlands has a strong international position in this area.
Both technologies are of great strategic importance for the economy, digital autonomy, and technological edge of Europe. Therefore, collaboration is essential: quantum and semicon share some challenges and can strengthen each other.
Innovating together
Thanks to the QUST network, quantum and semicon companies in South Holland can collaborate better. Specific themes such as chip design, cryotechnology, testing & validation, and 3D integration receive extra attention.
