The Provincial Executive of the Province of South Holland designates Kruisweg-Oost as the most suitable area for wind turbines in the municipality of Lansingerland. With approximately 15 MW of wind energy, the province aims to ensure sufficient, sustainable, local energy to prevent power shortages in the future.
The wind turbines can be realized in the area just below the A12 to above the A12 north of the Voorlaan. To reach this decision, the province conducted research on three areas in the municipality: Bleizo-West, Kruisweg-Oost, and Noordpolder.
Procedure Followed
The Provincial Executive bases this decision on various sources, such as the administrative agreement between the province and the municipality of Lansingerland. In this agreement, the parties agreed to develop the Bleizo-West plan area with approximately 5,000 homes with accompanying social and commercial facilities. Additionally, the Environmental Impact Report (MER), the participation process with residents, the market consultation (for landowners and initiators), and consultations with (semi-) government bodies and utility companies, the sounding board group, and other stakeholders provided input for the decision.
According to Deputy Arno Bonte, an extensive process preceded the decision. “I am grateful to everyone who actively and critically contributed. We carefully weighed the pros and cons of the different options, and in that consideration, this location emerged as the best choice.”
Submitting a Notice of Objection
The draft preferred decision is available for inspection from November 28 to January 9. Residents and other stakeholders can then give their opinion in a so-called notice of objection.
The province processes the objections in a response note. After any adjustments to the preferred decision have been made, the final preferred decision will be adopted by the Provincial Executive. The province can take a project decision after adopting the preferred decision. The intention is for the wind turbines to be operational in 2032 and provide sufficient sustainable electricity.
