About 400 people worked on seven health themes at the conference Healthy Society: innovate and sustainably implement - Action in the Delta on April 8 in Delft. Deputy Mariëtte van Leeuwen of the Province of South Holland received the insights, in the form of puzzle pieces.

This was the first joint conference of Medical Delta, Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities, and the South Holland Impact Alliance of universities of applied sciences. The goal was to start an action agenda for a healthier South Holland.

For the province, an important theme because the residents of South Holland score low on health and high on health disparities.

Deputy Van Leeuwen: It is important that we work together to make South Holland a healthier province. We want to be the accelerating factor as a province. For example, by spreading knowledge to municipalities.

Van Leeuwen emphasized that health is not a given theme for a province and that knowledge lies much more with universities, universities of applied sciences, hospitals, and municipalities. South Holland does invest in this and is eager to use the available knowledge in the region. Lets use the knowledge that is on the shelf! said the deputy.

Work sessions input for the Delta Action Agenda

Healthcare professionals, developers, scientists, teachers, students, patient representatives, end-users, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from various organizations and fields participated in the work sessions that serve as input for the Delta Action Agenda. In the coming months, the action agenda for a healthy South Holland will be further developed under the leadership of Medical Delta with partners such as ZHIA, LDE, Province of South Holland, and other stakeholders. The results will be presented on November 13, 2025, at the Healthy Mind Festival of the Province of South Holland.
