South Holland presents the new digital magazine The Green Transition: a publication full of inspiring examples from the nature-inclusive movement in our province. The magazine shows how residents, professionals, and partners increasingly incorporate nature into their daily work, environment, and decisions.

During the development of the magazine, Deputy Arno Bonte emphasized the importance of this movement: “Nature must be the foundation in the spatial system.” This vision forms a common thread through the stories in the magazine and underlines why South Holland is committed to a nature-inclusive future.

Stories from the nature-inclusive movement

The Green Transition shows how the nature-inclusive transition in South Holland is alive in villages, cities, neighborhoods, and organizations. The first edition contains examples of green urban development, green-blue schoolyards, livable neighborhoods, and initiatives from residents who take matters into their own hands. The magazine also provides explanations about myths and facts about nature, insights from experts, and a preview of how nature-inclusive work contributes to a healthy future.

Residents, organizations, and schools speak out

The magazine contains stories from various “Change Makers”: people who work with small and large steps towards a nature-inclusive living environment. Such as residents greening their neighborhood, schools transforming their schoolyard into a green and cool play area, and organizations incorporating nature into their policies and projects. These stories show that everyone can be part of the green transition.

Insights and examples for professionals

Besides inspiration, The Green Transition also offers practical information. Themes such as the importance of new nature, the role of biodiversity in a healthy living environment, the value of forest expansion, and examples from municipalities that practice nature-inclusive working are covered. The magazine supports professionals and partners in finding applicable tools for their own work.
