On October 14, 2025, the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) and the Netherlands Court of Audit are organizing a symposium on the role and position of supervisors and enforcers in the public domain. For this occasion, the Netherlands Court of Audit has published a report based on 54 research reports from the period 2013-2025, highlighting four key themes from these studies.
In Through the Loopholes of Supervision and Enforcement, attention is drawn to the low probability of detection in serious cases, the inadequate exchange of information, unclear choices in practice, and insufficient insight into effectiveness. The report describes how these key themes reinforce or otherwise influence each other.
This publication has also been sent to the House of Representatives and the Senate.
