Nearly 7 percent of companies assessed their own debts as problematic in November 2025, roughly the same as a year earlier. According to just over half, the debt burden is not of the desired size. Nearly 4 percent expect to exist less than a year under the current economic conditions. This is reported by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) based on the business cycle survey among companies with five or more employees.

One in five hospitality companies struggles with problematic debt. A year ago this was 14 percent. Also in information and communication, the share of companies with problematic debt has risen relatively sharply. In other services, retail trade, and car trade and repair, it is lower than a year ago. In rental and trade of real estate, the fewest companies have problematic debt (0.6 percent).
