In November, consumers purchased 1.4 percent more durable goods than in November 2024. They mainly bought more shoes, electrical appliances, and clothing. Households spent 1.1 percent more on food and luxury goods, adjusted for price changes, than in November 2024. Furthermore, households consumed 3.4 percent less of other goods (such as energy and motor fuels) in November.
The CBS also publishes monthly about the conditions for consumption in the Consumption Radar. The indicators in the radar correlate well with household consumption, but an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean higher consumption growth.
According to the December Consumption Radar, the conditions for consumption in December were less favorable than in November. This is mainly because consumers were more negative about the future development of unemployment and the year-on-year growth of the employed labor force was smaller.
