According to the CBS Consumption Radar of March, the conditions for consumption in March were less favorable than in February.
Consumers spent 0.7 percent more on food and beverages, adjusted for price changes. They also purchased 3.1 percent more durable goods than a year earlier, particularly more clothing, shoes, and electrical appliances. Households used 9.3 percent more other goods, especially energy, than in February 2024. February was colder this year than last year.
Consumers consumed 0.7 percent more services in February, mainly spending more on transport and communication. Expenditures on services account for more than half of the total domestic consumption by households.

Consumption Conditions in March Less Favorable
CBS also publishes monthly reports on consumption conditions in the consumption radar. Household consumption is related to consumer expectations, the labor market situation, and the development of their wealth. The indicators in the radar correlate well with household consumption, but an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean higher consumption growth.
According to the consumption radar of March, conditions for consumption in March were less favorable than in February. This is mainly because producers were less positive about the development of their staff strength. Furthermore, the increase in stock prices and house prices compared to a year earlier was smaller.
