The turnover figures have been adjusted for the composition of shopping days in September. On some days of the week, more is sold than on others. Without this calendar correction, retail turnover would have been over 5 percent higher than in September 2024.
The turnover of non-food (including non-store retail trade) grew by 3.7 percent in September 2025. The volume (turnover corrected for price changes) was 1.9 percent higher than a year earlier.
Stores selling furniture and home furnishings, clothing stores, drugstores and do-it-yourself stores (including kitchens and floors) had higher turnover in September 2025 than in September 2024. However, the turnover of stores selling recreational articles, consumer electronics, and shoes and leather goods was lower than in September 2024.
Stores selling food and luxury goods achieved 4.1 percent more turnover in September than in September 2024. The sales volume was 0.6 percent higher than a year earlier. Supermarket turnover was 4.8 percent higher, while turnover in specialty stores was 0.2 percent lower.
In September 2025, online sales were 6.0 percent higher than in September 2024. Webshops (with internet sales as main activity) had 7.0 percent higher turnover. The online turnover of stores where internet sales are a secondary activity (multichannelers) was 4.5 percent higher than the same month a year earlier.
The online turnover of stores selling food and drugstore items, consumer electronics, and other non-food articles was higher in September 2025 than in September 2024. However, the online turnover of clothing and fashion stores was lower in September 2025 than in September 2024.
