The turnover of the non-food sector (including non-store retail) grew by 1.9 percent in December 2025. The volume (turnover corrected for price changes) was 1.4 percent higher than a year earlier.
Stores selling recreational articles and drugstores recorded over 2 percent higher turnover in December 2025 than in the same period a year earlier. Also, the turnover of clothing stores and consumer electronics stores was higher than in December 2024. The turnover of do-it-yourself stores (including kitchens and floors) was slightly lower (-0.3 percent). Also, the turnover of furniture and home furnishing stores and stores in shoes and leather goods shrank by 0.7 percent and 1.3 percent respectively.
Stores in food and luxury goods recorded 5.0 percent higher turnover in December 2024 than in December 2024. The sales volume was 1.9 percent higher than a year earlier. The turnover of supermarkets grew by over 6 percent, while the turnover of specialty stores declined by 1.1 percent.
In December 2025, online turnover was 4.3 percent higher than in December 2024. Webshops (main activity selling via internet) recorded 5.4 percent higher turnover than in the same month a year earlier. The online turnover of stores where internet sales are a secondary activity (multichannelers) was 2.6 percent higher.
The online turnover of stores in food and drugstores was nearly 10 percent higher than in December 2024. Also, stores in other non-food articles and consumer electronics recorded higher turnover. The turnover of clothing and fashion stores was 2.0 percent lower than in the same month a year earlier.
In 2025, the retail sector, corrected for calendar days, recorded 3.6 percent higher turnover than a year earlier. The sales volume was 1.6 percent higher than in 2024. The turnover of non-food stores grew by 3.6 percent in 2025, the turnover of food stores grew by 3.4 percent.
Online sales were 5.2 percent higher than in 2024. The turnover of webshops was 7.4 percent higher. The online turnover of stores where internet sales are a secondary activity was 1.9 percent higher.
