The turnover figures are adjusted for the composition of shopping days in August. On some days of the week, more is sold than on others. Without this adjustment, the turnover of retail was nearly 2 percent higher than in August 2024.
The turnover of non-food (including non-store retail) grew by 3.4 percent in August 2025. The volume (the turnover adjusted for price changes) was 2.0 percent higher than a year earlier.
Stores selling recreational goods, clothing stores, furniture and home decor stores, drugstores, and shoe and leather goods stores recorded higher sales in August 2025 compared to August 2024. However, DIY stores (including kitchens and flooring) and consumer electronics stores saw lower sales than a year earlier.
Stores selling food and beverages achieved 3.9 percent more turnover in August 2025 compared to August 2024. The sales volume was 0.3 percent higher than a year earlier. The turnover of supermarkets was 4.6 percent higher, while the turnover of specialty stores was 0.6 percent lower.
Online sales were 6.4 percent higher in August 2025 compared to August 2024. Online stores (with sales primarily through the internet) recorded a 7.8 percent increase. The online sales of stores, where internet sales are a secondary activity (multichannelers), were 4.3 percent higher.
The online sales of food and drugstores, consumer electronics stores, other non-food stores, and clothing stores were higher in August 2025 compared to August 2024.
