The retail sector recorded a 3.6 percent increase in turnover in August 2025 compared to August 2024, according to CBS. The sales volume was 1.4 percent higher. The turnover of non-food (including non-store retail) grew by 3.4 percent and the turnover of the food sector (stores selling food and beverages) increased by 3.9 percent. Online sales were 6.4 percent higher than a year earlier.

The turnover figures are adjusted for the composition of shopping days in August. On some days of the week, more is sold than on others. Without this adjustment, the turnover of retail was nearly 2 percent higher than in August 2024.
