Retail sales increased by 3.1 percent in October 2025 compared to October 2024, according to CBS figures. The sales volume was 1.6 percent higher. The turnover of the non-food sector (including non-store retail) grew by 3.1 percent and the turnover of the food sector (shops in food and luxury goods) by 3.2 percent. Online sales were nearly 5 percent higher than a year earlier.

The turnover figures are adjusted for the composition of calendar days in October. On some days of the week, more is sold than on others. Without this correction, retail turnover would have been 3.8 percent higher than in October 2024.

Non-food turnover 3.1 percent higher

The turnover of non-food (including non-store retail) grew by 3.1 percent in October 2025. The volume (turnover adjusted for price changes) was 2.5 percent higher than a year earlier.

The turnover of shops selling shoes and leather goods was higher than a year earlier. Also, shops selling furniture and home furnishings, drugstores, shops selling recreational articles, clothing stores, and DIY stores (including kitchens and floors) recorded higher turnover in October 2025 than in October 2024. The turnover of consumer electronics stores was lower in October 2025 than in the same month a year earlier.

Food turnover 3.2 percent higher

Shops selling food and luxury goods had a 3.2 percent higher turnover in October 2025 than in October 2024. The sales volume was 0.4 percent lower than a year earlier. The turnover of supermarkets was 3.7 percent higher, while the turnover of specialty stores was 0.1 percent higher than last year.

Online sales nearly 5 percent higher

In October 2025, online sales were 4.8 percent higher than in October 2024. Webshops (with internet sales as their main activity) had 4.7 percent higher turnover than in the same month a year earlier. The online turnover of shops where internet sales are a secondary activity (multichannelers) was more than 5 percent higher.

The online turnover of shops selling food and drugstore products, consumer electronics, and other non-food items was higher in October 2025 than in October 2024. The online turnover of clothing and fashion stores was lower in October 2025 than in October 2024.
