According to the second calculation by CBS, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.5 percent in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the second quarter of 2025. The first calculation, published on October 30, showed growth of 0.4 percent. The second GDP calculation is published approximately 85 days after the end of the quarter.

The economic growth is 0.1 percentage points higher than in the first calculation. This is mainly due to an upward revision of exports. The overall picture has not changed. The increase in GDP in the third quarter of 2025 is mainly attributable to exports and government consumption.

Second calculation

The second calculation is made 85 days after the end of the quarter. The first calculation, 30 days after the end of a quarter, is based on the information available at that time. After this first calculation, more information about the Dutch economy becomes continuously available, such as from construction, business services, hospitality, government, healthcare, and financial institutions.

The absolute revision of the second calculation compared to the first calculation averaged 0.1 percentage points over the past five years (2020-2024). The two extremes were -0.4 and 0.7 percentage points, respectively in 2024 and 2021.

Revision of growth in previous quarters

With each new GDP calculation, CBS also recalculates the seasonally adjusted series of previously published quarters. The growth figures for the previous 3 quarters have not been revised.

Growth compared to the third quarter of 2024

Compared to a year earlier, the economy grew by 1.8 percent in the third quarter. According to the first calculation, this was 1.6 percent. This revision is also mainly attributable to exports. Exports, household consumption, and government consumption contributed most to this growth.

Number of jobs decreases by one thousand

According to the second calculation, the number of jobs for employees and self-employed persons decreased by one thousand in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the second quarter of 2025. The first calculation showed a decrease of 7 thousand jobs.

Compared to the third quarter of 2024, there were 41 thousand more jobs for employees and self-employed persons in the third quarter of 2025 according to the second calculation. This was 33 thousand according to the first calculation.
