The CBS publishes monthly updates on the conditions for exports in the export radar. The conditions are largely determined by developments in the main markets for Dutch exports and by the development of the Dutch competitive position. The indicators in the radar are well correlated with exports, but an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean higher export growth.
In the CBS Export Radar for October, the conditions for exports were less favorable than in the radar for August. This is mainly due to the development of real exchange rates being less favorable. Furthermore, the assessment of manufacturers in the eurozone regarding export orders was more negative. German producer confidence was also more negative, and the year-on-year contraction of German industrial production was greater.
