Export grows by nearly 3 percent in September

The volume of goods exports increased by nearly 3 percent in September compared to a year earlier, reports CBS. This is mainly due to higher exports of machinery and transport equipment.

The volume (working day adjusted) of goods exports was 2.6 percent higher in September than in September 2024, reports Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Companies mainly exported more machinery, transport equipment, and raw materials. However, exports of chemical products were lower than a year earlier. The volume of goods imports was 1.7 percent higher in September than in September 2024. There were mainly more raw materials, machinery, and transport equipment imported.

According to the CBS Export Radar of November, the conditions for export were slightly less favorable than in the radar of September.

CBS also publishes monthly reports on the conditions for export in the export radar. The conditions are largely determined by developments in the main sales markets for Dutch exports and by the development of the Dutch competitive position. The indicators in the radar correlate well with exports, but an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean higher export growth.

In the CBS Export Radar of November, the conditions for export were slightly less favorable than in the radar of September. This is mainly due to the year-on-year growth of German industrial production turning into a contraction and the development of real exchange rates being less favorable.
