In October, the number of bankruptcies significantly decreased compared to a year earlier, with nearly a quarter fewer companies going bankrupt.

In October, adjusted for court days, 253 companies were declared bankrupt, reports Statistics Netherlands (CBS). That is 75 fewer bankruptcies than in the same month a year earlier, a decrease of 23 percent. Compared to September, the number of bankruptcies decreased by 8 percent.

The bankruptcy rate in October was 6.8. A year earlier, 9.0 companies per 100 thousand were declared bankrupt.

Since the start of the series in 2015, the bankruptcy rate peaked in March 2015 at 24.8. Then a decline began, and in August 2021 a record low of 3.4 was reached. Subsequently, the number of bankruptcies per 100 thousand companies rose again until 2024. Then the bankruptcy rate stabilized until the fall of 2024. Since then, the trend has been slightly declining.
