In January 2025, the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets was 0.4 percent smaller than a year earlier, reports CBS. Especially less was invested in machinery (including defense equipment) and other road transport (trucks, trailers, vans, etc.). However, in buildings and infrastructure, more was invested in January 2025 than a year earlier.

The decline in investments in other road transport coincides with tax changes as of January 1, 2025, and changing rules around environmental zones in some cities. In the last months of 2024, investments in other road transport grew sharply.

The figures are not adjusted for working days. January 2025 has two more working days than January 2024. In the CBS Investment Radar of March, the conditions for investments are about as unfavorable as in the radar of January.

Investment Conditions in March Almost Equally Unfavorable

CBS publishes every month about the conditions for investments in the investment radar. Investments are, among other things, related to the situation in the sales markets and the situation in the financial markets. The radar indicators correlate quite well with investments in fixed assets, but an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean greater growth or a smaller shrinkage of investments. In the CBS Investment Radar of March, the conditions for investments are almost as unfavorable as in the radar of January.
