Investments Shrink by Nearly 4 Percent in August

In August 2025, the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets was 3.8 percent smaller than a year earlier, reports Statistics Netherlands (CBS). There was particularly less investment in buildings and other road transport (trucks, trailers, vans, etc.) than a year earlier. However, more was invested in airplanes and machinery (including defense equipment).

The figures are not adjusted for working days. August 2025 has one working day less than August 2024. In the CBS Investment Radar of September, the conditions for investments were less unfavorable than in the radar of August.

Conditions for Investments in September Less Unfavorable

CBS publishes monthly about the conditions for investments in the investment radar. Investments are related to the situation in the sales markets and the situation in the financial markets. The indicators of the radar correlate fairly well with investments in fixed assets, but an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean greater growth or less contraction of investments.

In the CBS Investment Radar of September, the conditions for investments were less unfavorable than in the radar of August. This was mainly due to the less negative assessment of producers regarding the order position.
