In the first half of 2025, Veilig Thuis gave 85 thousand pieces of advice, compared to 75 thousand a year earlier. The reason for the increase in advice requests has not been investigated.
The number of reports to Veilig Thuis rose from 64 thousand in the first half of 2024 to 66 thousand in the first half of 2025.
About half of the received reports concern (suspected) child abuse. In 38 percent of the reports, there is (suspected) violence by partners or ex-partners. Elder abuse accounts for about 2 percent of the reports. In some cases, there is actually no child abuse and/or domestic violence (other issues), or the nature of the violence is unknown.
Police and judiciary make 68 percent of all reports to Veilig Thuis. Most reports of violence against parents (79 percent) and (ex-)partner violence (78 percent) are made by police and judiciary. Reports of child abuse are made by police or judiciary in about 59 percent of cases. Over 12 percent of reports of child abuse are made by someone not in a professional role, such as family members or neighbors.
