Today marks the release of the sixth edition of the web publication The Netherlands in Figures. This publication presents statistics focused by CBS on several major social themes. Some of the main social themes are poverty, housing, and green energy. From electric cars to the number of homes in the Netherlands, you will find it in this edition of The Netherlands in Figures.

Social Themes

The world around us is changing rapidly. These changes require CBS to be highly flexible in quickly providing reliable information and statistical services that offer insight into what is happening around us.
To maintain focus on the main themes, many efforts have been made over the past year. This is reflected in a beautiful online publication. We have devoted much attention to presenting these figures in a clear and easily accessible place. Think, for example, of the sustainability dashboard and our publications on the housing dossier. Housing is included in the publication: how many homes are there in the Netherlands? The accompanying StatLine table shows that in the most recently reported year, over 78 thousand homes were added. It is our task to fuel the social debate with this kind of information.

Appealing

Apart from the major themes, it is also tradition in The Netherlands in Figures to highlight some eye-catching messages from CBS. Information you do not always stop to consider. The last article is about the languages spoken at home by people. The language you speak at home is an important part of your identity, who you are, so it is interesting to read that Limburgers are still leaders in speaking regional dialects at home. 48 percent of Limburgers do so. The Frisians are close behind, as 42 percent of people in Fryslân mainly speak Frisian at home.
