The food and luxury goods industry was the biggest gainer in the third quarter: turnover in this sector was 6.2 percent higher than in the third quarter of 2024. The transport equipment industry was the biggest loser, with 9.7 percent.
Selling prices in the industry were 0.1 percent higher than in the third quarter of 2024. Domestic selling prices rose by 0.6 percent, foreign selling prices fell by 0.3 percent. Selling prices rose the most in the transport equipment industry by 2.8 percent. In refineries and the chemical industry, selling prices fell the most: 4.2 percent.
In the industry, there have now been fifteen consecutive quarters with more entrepreneurs reporting worsening profitability than those reporting improvement. A net 3.5 percent of producers indicated that profitability worsened in the third quarter of 2025. For the second quarter of 2025, a net 6.2 percent of producers indicated this.
In the third quarter of 2025, 69 bankruptcies were declared in the industry, 12 fewer than a year earlier.
More entrepreneurs expect higher turnover in the fourth quarter than those expecting lower turnover. A net 11.6 percent of entrepreneurs expect more turnover in the fourth quarter of 2025. Since the third quarter of 2022, entrepreneurs have not been this positive about turnover expectations. In the previous quarter, a net 3.7 percent of entrepreneurs expected a turnover increase.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, entrepreneurs cited insufficient demand (30 percent) as the main obstacle in their business operations. The last time entrepreneurs named this as the main obstacle was the first quarter of 2021.
The shortage of labor, which has been the main obstacle since the third quarter of 2022, is now mentioned as second with 26 percent. Entrepreneurs less often indicated that financial constraints and a shortage of production resources are obstacles. Over 30 percent of entrepreneurs in the industry experience no obstacles.
