Approximately 60 prcent of all industrial classes produced more in October than in the same month a year earlier. Of the eight largest sectors, the rubber and plastics industry recorded the largest production increase, while the transport equipment industry noted the largest decline.
To determine the short-term development of production, it is best to look at seasonally and calendar-adjusted figures. Production rose by 0.2 prcent from September to October.
Seasonally and calendar-adjusted production usually fluctuates significantly. Declines and increases follow each other quickly. In May 2020, industrial production reached a low point. After that, an upward trend was set until May 2022. Since then, the trend has reversed.
Producers were more negative in November than a month earlier. They were more negative about finished goods inventories and less positive about expected activity.
Germany is an important market for Dutch industry. Producer confidence in Germany was also more negative in November than a month earlier (Eurostat). The calendar-adjusted production of the German industry was 0.1 percent lower in October than a year earlier. Compared to September, German production rose by 1.5 percent (Destatis).
