In 2024, more than a quarter of the population aged 15 and older indicated that they are very concerned about the theft of personal data after a hack or data breach. Also, more than a quarter was very worried about the misuse of bank or personal data. Although almost everyone has taken measures to secure devices or accounts, half consider it likely that they will become a victim of hacking themselves. This is reported by CBS based on the research Online Safety and Crime 2024. This research was conducted from August to October 2024 among more than 33 thousand people aged 15 and older.

In addition to concerns about the misuse of bank or personal data, 20 percent said they are very concerned about the misuse of accounts or the hacking of devices or accounts. About 15 percent are very concerned about ransomware and computer viruses or infections.
