Since Brexit Fewer Brits Coming to the Netherlands
Since 2020, fewer Brits are coming to the Netherlands, while the number of Dutch people leaving for the UK is also decreasing.
Since 2020, when the United Kingdom left the European Union, fewer Brits are coming to the Netherlands. Until 2019, immigration from Brits was actually increasing. The number of Dutch people leaving for the United Kingdom has further decreased. This is reported by Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
In 2024, 3.0 thousand Brits (people born in the United Kingdom) settled in the Netherlands, compared to 6.5 thousand in 2019. The number of Brits returning to the United Kingdom from the Netherlands has also decreased since 2020. There were 2.2 thousand in 2024, almost a thousand fewer than in 2019. Net (immigration minus emigration) 790 Brits moved to the Netherlands.
Departure of Dutch to the UK continues to decline
Since 2015, fewer Dutch people (people born in the Netherlands) are emigrating to the United Kingdom. Back then, it was still over 4 thousand. In 2024, this number was 1.3 thousand, the lowest number in thirty years.
Fewer Dutch people are also returning. Net (immigration minus emigration) only a few dozen Dutch people left for the United Kingdom in 2024. In 2015, that number was still 2.3 thousand.

Halving of the number of migrants from other countries from the UK to the Netherlands
At the peak in 2019, nearly 6 thousand non-Dutch and non-Brits moved from the United Kingdom to the Netherlands. In 2024, there were still over 3 thousand, mainly Poles, Indians, and Somalis. From the Netherlands, relatively many Indians emigrate to the UK, as well as Somalis and (more recently) Ukrainians.

More and more EU citizens leaving the United Kingdom
Since 2019, fewer people with EU nationality are migrating to the United Kingdom. In 2024, the EU-27 has a positive migration balance with the United Kingdom. This means that more EU citizens are leaving the United Kingdom than moving there: nearly 100 thousand. In 2015, nearly 290 thousand EU citizens settled there.

Decline in non-EU migration to the UK in 2024
In the first years after Brexit, more and more people with non-EU nationality settled in the United Kingdom: their number rose from 294 thousand in 2020 to over 1 million in 2023. In 2024, 766 thousand people with non-EU nationality settled in the UK. In the past five years, about 160 thousand people with non-EU nationality left each year. Net, in 2024, over 540 thousand non-EU citizens settled in the United Kingdom.
