In 2024, the Netherlands imported goods worth 255 million euros and services worth 25 million euros. Of the import value of goods, 18 percent was directly forwarded to another country (transit).
Between 2015 and 2024, imports from Venezuela mostly consisted of goods in almost all years. Only in 2017 was the import value of services higher than that of goods.
In 2024, Dutch goods imports from Venezuela consisted of 35 percent (89 million euros) frozen shrimps and prawns. Venezuela is thus the largest supplier of these products.
Additionally, goods imports consist of 35 percent methanol and 18 percent so-called ferro products, obtained from the direct reduction of iron ore. These are products such as wrought iron, steel, cast iron, and scrap iron. Venezuela is also the largest supplier of these ferro products.
Service imports consist of 58 percent (14.5 million euros) financial services.
Imports of services and goods from Venezuela accounted for less than 0.03 percent of the total Dutch import value in 2024. Within the EU, the Netherlands holds an 11 percent share and is the third largest importer of goods and services from that country. Only Spain and Italy import more from Venezuela, with 58 percent and 12 percent of total EU imports respectively.
