Producers are more positive in September about expected business activity in the coming three months. Additionally, they are less negative about stocks of finished products and their order portfolio.
One sub-indicator is positive. The number of producers expecting their production to increase in the next three months is greater than the number anticipating a decrease. The other two sub-indicators of producer confidence are negative. The number of producers who consider their order position large is smaller than those who find their order portfolio small, given the time of year. The number of producers who view their finished product stock as small is less than those who consider their stocks large.
In two-thirds of the underlying sectors, producer confidence has improved. Producers in other industries (e.g., repair and installation of machinery and furniture industry) are the most positive, while manufacturers in the paper and graphic industry are the most negative.
The calendar-adjusted production of the Dutch industry was 1.1 percent lower in July than in July 2024. Adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, production in July decreased by 1.4 percent compared to June.
