Nearly 5.1 million people worked full-time, which is 24 thousand less than a year earlier but significantly more than the nearly 4.9 million four years ago.
Of men aged 25 to 65, 81 percent work full-time, compared to 82 percent four years earlier. At the same time, the share with a large part-time job rises from 12 to 13 percent. Especially men aged 35 to 55 work more often 28 to 35 hours per week.
In the third quarter, 29 percent of women worked 28 to 35 hours per week and 35 percent full-time. In all age groups from 25 to 65 years, the percentage with a large part-time or full-time job increases.
Youth most often have small part-time jobs alongside their studies. More than seven out of ten 15- to 25-year-olds attend education, often combined with a side job up to 28 hours per week. Of 65- to 75-year-olds, 21 percent work; they mostly do this in a part-time job.
People with a partner and children more often work large part-time jobs than people with a partner without children. Of women aged 25 to 65 who are part of a couple with children, 31 percent work in a large part-time job, compared to 26 percent of women with a partner but without children. Especially among women with children, this share is higher than four years ago.
Men in this age group with a partner and children also work slightly more often in a large part-time job than men without children. Of men with a partner and children, 13 percent worked in a large part-time job, compared to 12 percent without children. For men with children, this share is higher than four years ago, while for men without children it is lower.
