The court sentences a 35-year-old man from Apeldoorn to 40 months in prison. He committed preparatory acts for the trafficking and production of hard drugs and was involved in three drug transactions.

Over a long period, the man held conversations via his (crypto) phone with many different contacts about various types of (hard) drugs. He tried to bring parties together to establish drug transactions. Three times this actually led to the sale and delivery of quantities of cocaine, 3MMC and amphetamine oil, a raw material for the production of synthetic drugs.

A bigger role than he claimed

The man claimed it was all boasting and that he only wanted to act tough to fit in. However, the file shows that his role was bigger than he wanted the court to believe.

Disruptive influence on society

The man contributed to maintaining the criminal drug circuit. Drugs are harmful to public health, especially for users. In addition, drug trafficking has a particularly disruptive influence on society, as it is accompanied by many other forms of crime. To protect large financial interests, (extreme) violence is not shunned. For such offenses, a long unconditional prison sentence is appropriate.

Long prison sentence

When determining the sentence, the court takes into account the severity of the offenses, the time elapsed in this case, and the personal circumstances of the man. During his pre-trial detention, a very intense personal situation occurred, making a return to prison very confronting for him. However, the court sees no reason not to impose a longer unconditional prison sentence, as the lawyer pleaded. Another sanction would not do justice to the seriousness and duration of his criminal activities.
