Today, NOvA and DJI had a constructive discussion about the access policy for the judicial institutions of DJI.

DJI has announced that it intends to tighten the access policy broadly. This policy applies to anyone entering the institutions, including its own staff, visitors, the legal profession, and probation services. The reason for this is the ongoing focus on tackling contraband (drugs and phones) and continued criminal activity during detention. The proposed change in the access policy is not about distrust towards lawyers but about uniform rules for all visitors. In this context, DJI explicitly takes into account the interests of lawyers in a fair defense.

During this planned discussion, an exploration took place. In the conversation, NOvA explained the special position of the legal profession and why data carriers are necessary for the practice of lawyers. DJI has promised to consult with various organizations and stakeholders in the coming period to see how the access policy for the legal profession can be shaped.

A follow-up discussion between DJI and NOvA will take place soon.
