This afternoon, the House of Representatives voted again on motions submitted two weeks ago during the two-minute debate on capacity measures proposed by State Secretary Coenradie of Justice and Security. Last week, the outcome of the vote was inconclusive.
The main motion voted on today was from the BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB). They want to block the State Secretarys plan to potentially release prisoners two weeks before the end of their sentence in extreme cases.
The BBBs motion was rejected this afternoon. This means the State Secretary can further develop her plan in consultation with DJI. This emergency measure will only be applied within DJI if there is no other option. We remain committed to ensuring everyone serves their sentence.
