Currently, DJI is exploring the feasibility of repurposing the Harreveld location into a Judicial Juvenile Facility (JJI). Currently, a youth care+ organization is located here, providing treatment and guidance to young people with behavioral problems. An exploration is also being conducted for repurposing the location into a national top clinical facility for youth care in a judicial context (JISK).
The location is well-suited for the designation as a JJI as well as for a national top clinical treatment facility for JISK. In the past, a JJI was located here. A JJI and a treatment facility could coexist well.
If feasible, repurposing could contribute to solving DJIs capacity issues and the national shortage of suitable youth care in a judicial context.
The municipality of Oost Gelre and the surrounding area are actively involved in these explorations. The explorations are expected to be completed this summer. At that time, another letter will be sent to the House.
After publication, the letter to the House can be found here.
