Important information for people who have fled from Ukraine but do not have Ukrainian nationality
Did you have a temporary residence permit in Ukraine and have fled to the Netherlands? And do you not have legal residence in the Netherlands on other grounds than the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD)? Then it is important that you prepare for your departure from the Netherlands.
Since March 4, 2024, you are no longer covered by the TPD. The Secretary of State decided at that time to freeze the consequences of this. As a result, you did not have to leave the Netherlands yet. However, this freeze will end on September 4, 2025.
If you do not have legal residence in the Netherlands on other grounds, the IND will impose a return decision on you with a departure period of 28 days. This means that from that moment you will have four weeks to leave the Netherlands. After that, you will no longer have the right to stay, benefits, and shelter in the Netherlands. Therefore, it is important that you prepare in time for departure to your country of origin or another country outside the European Union where you can reside sustainably.
