From July 1, 2025, taxi drivers can automatically and directly submit their taxi transport data to the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) via the Central Database Taxi Transport (CDT). This makes supervision of, among other things, working and rest times easier. There is a transition period until January 1, 2028. During this time, taxi entrepreneurs can choose whether to use the CDT or continue working with the Taxi Board Computer (BCT). After January 1, 2028, it is mandatory to carry out taxi transport only via the CDT.
Preparation for transition to CDT
With the coming into effect, the taxi sector can prepare for the transition to the CDT. Taxi entrepreneurs can switch to the CDT by digitally providing their ride and driver data. To provide information about taxi transport, a device or app that meets the legal requirements and is connected to the CDT must be used. The taxi entrepreneur may develop their own device or app, but can also choose a tool developed by one of the recognized IT service providers.
Supervision by ILT
During the transition period, there is an overlap between the use of the BCT and the CDT. The rules for working and rest times and the registration obligation apply to everyone. The ILT uses the taxi supervision tool (analysis software) in the CDT to carry out its supervisory tasks.
Carol, acting coordinator of the passenger transport department: “Nothing changes for our inspections with the arrival of the CDT. For us, the CDT is simply a new tool to inspect taxi drivers. Thanks to the CDT, we have the information available more quickly and can work more information-driven and risk-oriented. This allows us to better focus on taxi companies and drivers who do not comply with the rules.”
With the introduction of the CDT, both the inspection and the taxi sector get a system that has long been awaited. The ILT inspectors gain real-time insight into the data with the CDT and no longer need to extract data from the BCT during inspections. This makes inspections faster, more efficient, and less burdensome for drivers. Moreover, the administrative burden for taxi companies is reduced thanks to automatic data exchange. The CDT aligns well with the ILTs ambition to work information-driven and risk-oriented.
