Due to global warming, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere is increasing. This causes precipitation to become more intense. Extreme precipitation is clearly increasing. However, this does not automatically mean that the number of floods increases. Why is that?

More rain, but not always more floods
Due to global warming, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere is increasing. This causes precipitation to become more intense. Extreme precipitation is clearly on the rise. However, this does not automatically mean that the number of floods increases. Why is that?
