Announcement from the Cabinet of the King:

His Majesty the King has today, September 5, 2025, upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, effective from September 5, 2025:

  • D.M. van Weel appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs;
  • Mr. F. van Oosten appointed as Minister of Justice and Security;
  • F. Rijkaart appointed as Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations;
  • G. Moes appointed as Minister of Education, Culture and Science;
  • M.L.J. Paul appointed as Minister of Social Affairs and Employment;
  • Prof. dr. J.A. Bruijn appointed as Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport;

 as well as:

  •  A. de Vries appointed as State Secretary for Foreign Affairs;
  • Mr. A.C.L. Rutte appointed as State Secretary for Justice and Security;
  • Dr. K.M. Becking appointed as State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science;
  • Drs. E.H.J. Heijnen appointed as State Secretary for Finance and
  • Mr. S.Th.P.H. Palmen appointed as State Secretary for Finance.

In connection with these new appointments:

  • M.C.G. Keijzer relieved of the temporary management of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment;
  • R.P. Brekelmans relieved of the temporary management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • D.M. Van Weel relieved of the leadership of the Ministry of Justice and Security and relieved of the temporary management of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations;
  • S.Th.M. Hermans relieved of the temporary management of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science;
  • R. Tieman relieved of the temporary management of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and
  • M.L.J. Paul honorably discharged as State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science. 

The reason for the appointments is the resignation on August 22, 2025, of the ministers and state secretaries from the NSC house. Since June 3, 2025, the cabinet has been in a caretaker position, the Prime Minister and the ministers and state secretaries have made their portfolios or positions available to the King. The King has requested the ministers and state secretaries to continue to perform all actions they deem necessary in the interest of the Kingdom.

The new ministers and state secretaries were sworn in this morning before the King at Palace Huis ten Bosch.
