His Majesty the King will attend the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Foreign Press Association in The Hague on Friday afternoon, November 21.

The Foreign Press Association represents the foreign correspondents working in the Netherlands – currently about sixty journalists. They report from and about the Netherlands for media worldwide. Originally, the association focused on protecting the interests of correspondents vis-à-vis governments and organizations. Over the years, however, its scope has broadened. Nowadays, the FPA regularly organizes meetings with ministers, entrepreneurs, and social organizations, serving as an important link between foreign media and Dutch institutions and journalists.

King Willem-Alexanders visit begins with a debate on the future of the foreign correspondent, featuring contributions from foreign correspondents working in the Netherlands and Dutch correspondents abroad. Afterwards, he visits the exhibition 100 Years of the Foreign Press Association, where an explanation is given about the history and role of the association. Finally, the King engages in discussions with correspondents from various regions about their work.
