His Majesty the King visited Autumn Waves, an annual international exercise of units of Northern European maritime Special Operations Forces (SOF) organized together with Belgium.
The King started his visit in Schiedam to witness an intervention on board a platform ship where the crew was taken hostage. Concluding, the King spoke on board with the team of trainers and facilitators about the purpose of the exercise.
The Autumn Waves exercise consists of workshops and integrated exercises and is conducted in both Belgium and the Netherlands. Poland is participating for the first time this year. Finland is participating this year as an observer and is likely to join in 2027.
After the exercise, the King visited the Admiralty Council, the highest consultative body of the Royal Navy.
