His Majesty the King will visit Leemwierde, a new residential care location of Woonzorg Flevoland in Almere Haven, on the morning of October 28. Leemwierde employs a new care concept for the elderly in the neighborhood, allowing for temporary or permanent care, alongside the same informal caregivers as at home. Family, volunteers, and neighbors are involved in the care.

The King will tour the building and speak with caregivers, clients, informal caregivers, and volunteers. He will visit the short-term stay, the permanent residence, the neighborhood team post, and the living room for people with dementia. Discussions will focus on the various roles in the care chain, the relationship with other stakeholders, and the importance of living independently at home for longer. Attention will also be given to the role of informal caregivers and family members in the care concept. Finally, a roundtable discussion will take place regarding future-proof care and the care concept of Leemwierde.

Leemwierde provides housing and care for the elderly with somatic or psychogeriatric care indications. The building has 50 studios, offering all forms of elderly care under one roof, ensuring appropriate care can be provided at every stage.
