His Majesty the King will visit the Prins Alexander district in Rotterdam on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The visit focuses on the contributions of residents, volunteers, and professionals to livability, talent development, and social cohesion in the neighborhood.

Prins Alexander is a spacious district in the east of Rotterdam. The area, developed from the 1960s, has over 96,000 inhabitants and consists of neighborhoods such as Het Lage Land and Nesselande. In recent years, investments have been made in various parts in area development, public spaces, and facilities around, among others, Rotterdam Alexander station and Prins Alexanderplein.

The visit of King Willem-Alexander to the Prins Alexander district begins at the Sterrenhub, a community center established on the initiative of a resident and intended for the residents of the adjacent gallery flats. King Willem-Alexander receives explanations about activities that strengthen mutual connections in the neighborhood. Afterwards, he attends children decorating Christmas balls.

Subsequently, King Willem-Alexander visits the Prinsenhof Meeting Center. In the Grand Café, where people with disabilities or distance to the labor market gain work experience, he talks with clients, volunteers, and the chef. Participants talk about preparations for Christmas meals, guidance programs, and the role of the center as a meeting place for neighborhood residents. Support for the elderly with digital questions is also discussed.

Then King Willem-Alexander visits the Thorbecke Talent School, the largest Top Sports Talent School in the Netherlands. He attends a dance class and speaks with students and teachers of the program provided in collaboration with the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. Next, King Willem-Alexander talks with students participating in a football training, trainers, and partners about combining education and top sports and receives explanations about the social role the school fulfills in the district and the ambition to further strengthen it.

The visit concludes with a conversation with residents from different parts of Prins Alexander about themes such as soil subsidence and foundation problems and initiatives to promote social cohesion.
