His Majesty the King visits a training day at the TT circuit in Assen on Friday afternoon, June 27. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first TT held in Drenthe. The motorcycle circuit in Assen is the oldest in the world still used for World Championship races.
The King will receive an introduction to motorsport and the circuit from board members and volunteers at the beginning of his visit. He will then speak with MBO students working in the technical center where motorcycles are inspected. Next, he will wave off a training session in the Moto2 class and will ride a lap in the safety car.
After a conversation with riders from the Moto2 class, King Willem-Alexander will conclude his visit with a tour of the adjacent campsite, where many spectators are staying.
The TT circuit is the only circuit in the world where, since the establishment of the World Championship in 1949 by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), an international race has been held every year in this cycle. During the three-day event, around one hundred sixty thousand people visit the circuit.
