His Majesty the King will attend the science event Future Makers on the morning of July 5 in Amsterdam. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of The Young Academy, children can participate in scientific experiments, try out experiments, and take part in various workshops at the Trippenhuis.
The King will also engage in discussions with young scientists about innovative promotion trajectories, collaboration between different disciplines leading to new insights, and the ethical and responsible use of digital infrastructure for science. The King will then visit the four worlds of science where children discover what working in science entails. In the world of the Experiment Pioneers, children can test how attractive they are to mosquitoes, and in the Health Heroes, they will make slime and investigate how slime helps the body fight diseases. The Storytellers teach children to philosophize and how to know if something is truly true. Finally, in the world of the People Knowers, they will attempt to play with consciousness.
The Young Academy is a platform of fifty young scientists that organizes activities related to science policy, art and science, and internationalization. They advocate for the interests of young scientists and provide advice on science policy to scientific organizations and ministries. The Young Academy is an independent part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and collaborates with the classical Academy on advising, meetings, and projects. The King is the patron of the KNAW.
