His Majesty the King and Prime Minister Schoof will attend the twenty-first edition of Veterans Day in The Hague on Saturday, June 28. Minister Brekelmans of Defense and Secretary of State Tuinman of Defense will also be present. Veterans Day is a tribute to the more than 100,000 Dutch veterans who have served in the name of peace.
The day begins with a ceremony at the Royal Theatre where the Prime Minister will give a speech and veterans will share special personal stories, accompanied by music and film footage. The King will speak with several veterans afterwards.
In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander will speak at Malieveld with different groups of veterans and will meet the winner of the White Anjer Prize and the winning class of the Kidschallenge.
Dutch Veterans Day is a tribute to all veterans who have served from World War II to current missions. The aim is to promote social recognition and appreciation for veterans. The day was established by the government and is organized by the National Committee Veterans Day, with support from the Ministry of Defense and societal partners.
