His Majesty the King and Prime Minister Schoof are present on Wednesday afternoon, October 29, at the celebration of 75 years of the Social Economic Council (SER) and 80 years of the Foundation of Labor in Sint-Michielsgestel. The Prime Minister will give a speech. Minister Paul of Social Affairs and Employment is also present.
The SER is an advisory body where entrepreneurs, employees, and independent experts collaborate. The SER advises the government and parliament, both upon request and unsolicited, on socio-economic policy and facilitates agreements and covenants. Additionally, the SER performs administrative tasks to promote participation. The council was established by law in 1950.
The Foundation of Labor is the national consultation body of the central organizations of employers and employees in the Netherlands. The foundation advises the cabinet and makes recommendations to its members in sectors and companies with the aim of promoting good labor relations between employers and employees.
During the celebration, alongside the Prime Minister, the chairman of the SER, Kim Putters, and the chairpersons of the Foundation of Labor, Ingrid Thijssen (VNO-NCW) and Dick Koerselmans (FNV), will also give speeches. Additionally, there will be interviews with Minister Paul, the chairman of the SER Youth Platform, and a SER crown member.
