His Majesty the King will open the sixteenth edition of the Week Against Loneliness on Wednesday afternoon, September 24, this year in Den Bosch. During this networking conference, over 800 professionals, policymakers, volunteers, organizations, and companies will come together to combat loneliness in the Netherlands. State Secretary Pouw-Verweij of Long-term and Social Care (VWS) is the host of the conference.
King Willem-Alexander will be present at the plenary program, which will include scenes from the theater performance Only the Lonely about loneliness among young adults, and the Kinderpostzegels Foundation will draw attention to loneliness among children. Additionally, the National Coalition Against Loneliness will discuss their joint ambitions for the coming year and the themes that are central to national cooperation. The plenary session will conclude with a lecture by philosopher and social scientist Anja Machielse. Afterward, the King will engage in discussions with stakeholders from the field about their experiences, insights, and practical solutions.
The Week Against Loneliness 2025 runs from Thursday, September 25, to Wednesday, October 1. Local organizations, municipalities, resident initiatives, and businesses across the country will organize hundreds of activities where people can meet and establish new contacts.
