His Majesty the King will present the new standard to the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussars Regiment at the Prins Bernhard Barracks in Amersfoort on Wednesday afternoon, June 18. Her Royal Highness the Princess of Orange will also be present.
During the ceremony, the King inspects the troops and receives the standard of the Hussars Prince of Orange, the standard of the Hussars Prince Alexander, and the standard of the Hussars of Sytzama. These three regiments were merged in 2020 into the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussars Regiment but retained their own standards.
Then the new standard is presented, and the march of the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussars Regiment is played. After a speech by the King, the Wilhelmus sounds. After the ceremony, the King and the Princess of Orange will speak with some regiment members.
With the ceremony of taking over the standards and presenting the new standard, the traditions of the old regiments have passed on to the new regiment. It also marks the return of Dutch combat tanks to the Royal Army.
