Her Majesty Queen Máxima, honorary chair of Méér Muziek in de Klas, will make a working visit on Thursday morning, January 22, to primary school De Stromen in Alphen aan den Rijn. The school participates in the new program Make Room for Creativity. Méér Muziek in de Klas helps organize creative education through this program by utilizing initiatives and collaboration opportunities within the schools region.

Queen Máxima will be welcomed at De Stromen with a song about creativity, after which several students will explain why creative subjects are important to them. Subsequently, Queen Máxima will speak with various partners who are working on concrete agreements to help De Stromen advance with more creative education. These include aldermen, local arts and cultural institutions, community centers, and other regional partners. Topics include why creative education is essential for the students and the neighborhood and how, despite missing out on subsidies, space for creativity can still be created. Finally, ways to implement the approach at other schools will be explored.

Since 2015, the Méér Muziek in de Klas foundation has been committed to structural music education for all primary school children in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. In 2023, the foundations work expanded to making a broad cultural offer accessible to children and youth for whom this is not self-evident. The goal is to broaden the world of the student and contribute to the cognitive, social, and creative development of children. The foundation aligns with the School and Environment program of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
