Her Majesty Queen Máxima visited primary school Mobiel in Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon, November 20, as honorary chair of Méér Muziek in de Klas. Primary school Mobiel is one of twelve schools participating in the largest school band in the Netherlands. The school band performs during the annual Christmas Music Gala, which highlights the importance of music and creative education.

Queen Máxima attended part of the music lesson for groups 7 and 8. The students rehearsed the specially written song ‘Welcome to our party’. Afterwards, Queen Máxima spoke with the children about what they had learned, together with presenter Buddy Vedder, who hosts the Christmas Music Gala. She also attended a visual arts lesson and spoke with students about their experiences with creative subjects at school.

Primary school Mobiel is a small school in Amsterdam Southeast, participating in the School and Environment program. The school offers a Rich School Day, with a broad cultural offering both during and after school hours.

The Méér Muziek in de Klas Foundation has been committed since 2015 to structural music education for all primary school children in the Netherlands and the Caribbean. In 2023, the foundation expanded its work to make a broad cultural offering accessible to children and young people for whom this is not self-evident. The goal is to broaden the world of the student and contribute to the cognitive, social, and creative development of children. The foundation aligns with the School and Environment program of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
