Her Majesty Queen Máxima will visit a homeless shelter location in Amsterdam on Tuesday afternoon, February 17. The visit focuses on support for homeless EU citizens and cooperation between involved care and chain partners.
The location offers various facilities for homeless EU citizens, such as day care, social guidance, 24-hour perspective shelter, and night shelter. Within these facilities, the municipality of Amsterdam and various care and shelter organizations collaborate to better identify the target group and provide support.
The visit by Queen Máxima starts with a tour of various facilities in the building. She will be welcomed by Mr. Rutger Groot Wassink, alderman for Shelter and Social Affairs of the municipality of Amsterdam and host of the visit. During the tour, the route that homeless EU citizens can follow, from first contact and social guidance to perspective shelter, will be explained.
Subsequently, Queen Máxima will participate in a roundtable discussion with representatives of the municipality and care and shelter organizations. The discussion will cover cooperation within Amsterdams chain approach for homeless EU citizens, the causes of vulnerability and homelessness among this group, and possibilities for sustainable solutions. The broader issue of homelessness and cooperation between involved organizations in prevention, shelter, and guidance will also be addressed.
